Last week, I figured I’d try to channel my inner goddess via the power of drinking a butt-ton of juice. While I think I’ve probably flushed out everything that I’ve accumulated in my body since eighth grade, I did not experience much success.
Then it occurred to me– I work a lot of with stones and crystals for magick. I’ve probably got something that can help. As it turns out, I was correct.
Quartz crystals have a pretty identifiable structure. Even people who don’t work with them extensively can recognize a basked of quartz crystals by their color (or lack thereof) and overall shape. That said, quartz does experience a degree of variation with regards to its “faces,” the facets that comprise the very tip of the crystal. Most I own are considered Dow crystals. There is another configuration of faces that’s called an Isis face crystal, and is supposed to be useful for connecting to goddess energy within. Score!
I’m not usually one to set much store by the configuration of a crystal’s faces– if I find one I like, I will use it for feels right to me regardless of what a book or website tells me it’s good for. Still, might as well give this thing a shot, yeah?
I generally use crystals by holding them and meditating. One of my most oft-used crystals is a big smoky quartz with an indentation that is perfectly sized and shapes for my fingers to curl around the body of the crystal with my thumb rubbing some of the “barnacles” on the largest face. For this, I’m going to do much the same thing: hold the crystal, see what kind of feeling it evokes, and let the free association flow.
Well, while I can still feel the pleasant, kind of breathy energy from holding the crystal, I’m not really sure what accessing goddess energy feels like in meditation. I’m pretty relaxed and chill, but I get that a lot from this kind of thing. Goddess energy in ritual has a definite feel to me, and not one that’s really the same as what I got here. I feel pretty good, don’t get me wrong, but not necessary suffused with the kind of thing I had anticipated going in.
This, much like the juice experiment, is probably something that requires repetition. I might look for specific crystals or colors associated with Artemis, Aphrodite, and Hecate rather than using an Isis crystal, and see if I can make time each day to mix up a fancy juice and meditate for twenty minutes or so. Early in the morning would probably be the best time, since I’m less likely to be disturbed (either by brain-noise or by stuff going on around me).
Do you have any Isis crystals? Have you noticed a difference in their energy compared to other types?
