I’ve been having a ridiculous number of dreams lately.
I usually have very vivid, memorable dreams, but only a few times a week (unless I’ve taken extra steps to prepare myself for them). Lately, I’ve been averaging three or four a night. Some are pleasant, some are frightening, most are neutral. All of them take place on the same sort of “map” that all of my dreams do (which I really need to get around to drawing some day– I’ve had a surprising number of people curious about it).
Why the sudden uptick in brainmovies? I couldn’t say. Part of me thinks it might be the change in seasons– rainy weather has had me experiencing more IH symptoms, which I guess could be responsible. Pressure spikes haven’t caused me to remember more dreams before, though, so I can’t rightly pin it all on that alone. I also haven’t experienced any changes to my routine or medication, so there isn’t really anything that would alter my sleeping patterns that drastically.
Is it the time of year? The veil is thinner now. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve experienced more “noise” during October to November.
I think I might start keeping a notebook near me when I sleep. Usually, my dream journal on most days is just rolling over to my S.O. and telling him all of the different mind noise and thought garbage I’ve experienced that night, then he does the same. It’s helpful for picking up on things like salient symbols, recurring patterns, and prophetic bits. He can’t always be around, though, so a physical notebook might be handier.
At the very least, it’d help me sort through things like the haunted jackets and the woman on the island of spirals who wanted to give me a piece of sunstone.
Do you dream any differently this time of year? Do you make any special preparations to help you dream more vividly or remember you dreams? How about preventing nightmares?
