I was looking at palm stones the other day because of reasons, but they all seem to come in one of two types:
- Plain, blank stones, like tumble stones only flatter.
- Etched and painted in gold with “Dream,” “Relax,” “Breathe,” etc.
I don’t really need a reminder to dream or breathe, though. Really, if a palm stone’s going to do me any good in that department, it’d be the size of a cinder block and say things like, “Breathe. Slower. Slower. You are going to hyperventilate yourself into a panic attack. Okay, forget the breathing thing– think about bunnies instead” or “Believe in yourself, but maybe not in your ability to win the lottery because you have a better chance of being struck by lightning while being eaten by sharks.”
You have to admit, these would be way more useful than one-word platitudes. Plus, if I was stressed out and used one as a worry stone, I’d probably forget at least part of what I was worrying about by the time I got to the end of the inscription. All, “Oh man, did I lose my wallet?” and whipping out a stone that says, “Dream (but maybe not the one about the haunted jacket that you have to fight with a tennis ball, because that one was fucked up)” and realizing that, as crappy as things may be, they are still probably better than being strangled by possessed outerwear.
Besides, all of these would look totally rad etched into some rose quartz. Way cooler than tiny gold letters that just say “Dance.”
